The characters in the EFAS universe are powered by the Ascendance AI system, which allows each character to have their own aspirations, goals, and behaviors. Each character's attributes, such as happiness and stamina are also updated in real-time depending on their actions, other characters' actions, and players' actions. The presence of large numbers of these self-driven characters allows EFAS to be alive. A single player's actions can create large ripple effects throughout the entire galaxy.
